July 7, 2015: The Fiasco with the Trunk Lid

A good friend of mine helped me fabricate a frame out of some oak timber. We or should I say he did as I stood and watched him hone his craft, spent the better part of two days working to rebuild the skeleton for the trunk lid. We crafted it as best we could to mimic the shape of the skin. Unfortunately, when we got it mounted on the car, the curve was off by several degrees. One more thing for Rutter and the gang to help us fix!

The curve was off a few degrees, this just won’t do!
Trunk hinges attached the the wood skeleton.
Several iterations to finally get the trunk frame to fit the lines of the Packard
Couple of mods to the trunk skin itself to make it easier to mount to the frame. Ingenious!
